Ten Ways to Awaken

A Contemporary Guide to Finding the Way
By Ramiro López Larroy
Foreword by Bart van Melik
Translated from the Spanish by Azul Cibils Blaquier

We are not broken.

Most of us do not come to meditation because life is easy. We come because something has shaken us.

Ten Ways to Awaken offers a clear, contemporary map of Buddhist practice for modern life. Through ten lived insights, this book invites us to see clearly, suffer less, and respond with wisdom and compassion.

This is not a self-improvement system or an academic introduction to Buddhism. It is a companion for anyone seeking a simple, honest doorway to the path.

Submissions

We read selectively.

We are a small press and take on only a few projects at a time. We give our full attention to each one we publish — which means we are careful about what we say yes to.

We're looking for

  • Contemplative narrative nonfiction grounded in real practice
  • Work in the lineage of writers like Pema Chödrön, Mark Epstein, or Joseph Goldstein
  • A clear, personal voice — not a system or a method
  • Original Spanish-language work, or translations into Spanish

Not a fit

  • Self-help, productivity, or wellness programs
  • Purely academic or scholarly treatments
  • Fiction and poetry

What to send

  • A short description of the book and who it's for
  • A link to a sample — one chapter is plenty
  • A line or two about you and your practice

We read everything that fits our list, and reply to those we'd like to take further — usually within eight to twelve weeks. We aren't able to respond to every submission.
